It ended a 15 month stalemate that had obstructed Trump’s defunding order given in April of 2018. August 1st marked the first missed payment of those dollars, which since the advent of the Federal drug war, have comprised a substantial and growing portion of local police department budgets, in some cities, accounting for the majority of police manpower and presence on the streets.
–California, El Paso, Texas and Dayton, Ohio are all proudly defiant sanctuary jurisdictions that are losing billions because of Trump’s attempt to enforce the nation’s laws.
