Election Eve: A Prayer for America on the Verge of War and the Marxist Abyss
Father Almighty and Eternal God, Creator of Heaven and Earth.
We lift our voices today in burden and anguish. We lift our broken hearts and our broken nation up to You.
We come to you in this moment of historic turmoil and travail and tribulation, knowing that the suffering, division and chaos of these desperate days are nothing less than the deserved consequences for grievous sin, both as individuals and as a nation. And evidence too, of the deep wickedness and evil in our midst of those under Satanic control who wish to destroy themselves and us with them, even as they destroy the world you created.
Father, we humbly confess our sins as a nation to you. The sins of abortion, sexual immorality, hedonistic indulgence, selfishness, arrogance and pride. Sins against ourselves and against others. And the sin of denying your name as God.
We ask Father God that according to your promises to us that you will heal America of the deep wounds and strife of our history and of this present moment. We ask your forgiveness and healing for decades and centuries of sin too great and too numerous to mention. We seek your face. We ask your abundant mercy.
Heavenly Father, forgive us in our lostness and in the limitations of human frailty for seeking political solutions to spiritual problems. And for the arrogance of elevating strategy, human wisdom and knowledge above the Holy wisdom that only the Fear of the Lord can begin. We humbly seek your face.
America as a nation is undeserving of an extension of your divine mercy. We as people are undeserving of yet another reprieve from final destruction, bondage and enslavement. We have earned every shred of what the nation of Israel suffered so long ago for abandoning and dishonoring your Holy name, and more besides. For the killing of the innocent ones and the perversion of all you have made Holy, judgment and destruction are all that we deserve. We deserve to be vanquished into captivity by our enemies on every side, within and without.
In spite of this and in spite of all evil, Yahweh God, we ask in your mercy that you would spare your hand of righteous judgment from this nation. Even as Abraham begged of you to spare Lot and Sodom and Gomorrah for the sake of a remnant few, we ask Father for a divine healing of the wickedness and wounding and hatred that has infected us all and is being used to destroy an American people that once humbly claimed you as God and as the only source of the most bountifully blessed country the world has ever seen.
Forgive us, Lord we pray. Help us turn aside from our wicked way.
Our Founding Fathers rightly acknowledged that it was you that lifted us up and made us free. And we acknowledge in their long shadow of history, that only you can make us free again.
Only your omnipotent healing touch can rectify the damage of human sin in our land. Heal us completely, we pray.
We humbly submit ourselves and commit our nation and our leaders to whatever you have in store. And we ask again for an undeserved visitation of your blessing and mercy on us, our people and our government, until America is able to bless your name, once again. We ask Father by a miracle of your blessing that we as countrymen might put aside our differences, relinquish hatred and remember again our common cord as children of God, brothers and sisters in the wondrous creation of your hand.
Lord, hear our prayer.
And if that day has at last arrived when your final judgment cannot be spared, we ask protection, mercy and grace for every heart, every family, every church, every city and every state willing to acknowledge you as Savior and Lord. We ask you to walk with us into the wilderness. To wander with us in the desert. To make us ready at the ramparts to stand the watchtower and build refuge for the righteous in the great trying that is to come.
And above all and on every hand, that we take up the full armor of God, to withstand the evil day, and having done all else, to stand for Him who made us. To stand.
We praise you. We bless you. We adore you. We glorify you.
We ask Almighty and Holy God that you intervene on our behalf today and always, in a great and mighty testimony to the praise and glory of your Holy name.
