Michael Moore’s Anti-Trump Tome, ’11/9′ Lays Box Office Turd, $3M Opening Weekend
Democrats might want to hope Michael Moore’s latest opening weekend flop for a Trump hit piece is not indication of national sway. Then again, with the mainstream media running fake news propaganda hit pieces on Donald Trump every moment since he hit political pay dirt, does the market really need Michael Moore anymore? Apparently not.
Despite a robust 1,700 theatre launch, Moore’s Anti-Trump flavored Fahrenheit 9/11 Redux, Fahrenheit 11/9, waddled to an eighth place ranking among opening weekend releases with $3-million in ticket sales. It’s a Mariana Trench drop off for Moore whose unique brand of America-hating mockumentary genre hit a fever pitch in 2004 when his Fahrenheit 9/11 broke records for theatrical documentary release, earning $24-million in 868 locations. How the morbidly rotund have fallen.
Moore’s star and credibility took major hits over the past decade when researchers and whistleblowers uncovered fabrication, inaccuracy and outright staging of key material facts and elements in his previous films, eventually spawning mockumentaries on Moore mockumentaries highlighting the distortion and lies in Michael Moore hits like Bowling for Columbine, Roger and Me, and Fahrenheit 9/11.
It’s tempting to say that Michael Moore long ago jumped the shark, but then, it’s visibly apparent that Michael hasn’t jumped anything in a few decades, or 250 pounds ago, whichever more aptly applies.
Michael Moore gets destroyed by heckler with one question.
