The Newsweek reporter who wrote an inaccurate story about President Trump’s Thanksgiving Day plans has been fired. The outlet’s original story claimed the president only planned on tweeting and golfing during his holiday break, neglecting to mention his trip to Afghanistan.

For three years ,Jessica Kwong has made a living, literally, bashing President Donald Trump and turning petty criticisms into headline news. On Thanksgiving Day, President Trump made a mockery of Kwong and all the rest of the mainstream news, pulling a bait and switch that many outlets swallowed faster than pumpkin pie at a Thanksgiving feast. First, Trump announced that he and the Trump family would spend the holiday eating and golfing at his Mar-a-Lago Florida resort. He even left his sprawling official motorcade at that location to solidify the ruse. Instead, the President made a concealed departure via unmarked vehicle to Air Force One and flew to Afghanistan where he served Thanksgiving dinner to deployed troops there.

Kwong’s original Newsweek report was an obvious swipe at the President that backfired brilliantly. The story’s initial headline was, “How is Trump spending Thanksgiving? Tweeting, golfing and more.” Newsweek was then forced to edit her original story after Trump’s surprise trip was publicly announced. Newsweek announced Kwong’s termination in a statement to the Washington Examiner:

“Newsweek investigated the failures that led to the publication of the inaccurate report that President Trump spent Thanksgiving tweeting and golfing rather than visiting troops in Afghanistan, The story has been corrected, and the journalist responsible has been terminated. We will continue to review our processes and, if required, take further action.”
