Flop and Awwww: Ocasio-Cortez Endorsements Prove Poisonous at Ballot Box

Three of the four candidates Ocasio-Cortez endorsed went down to defeat with one race still remaining.
In the span of a month, Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez went from the Great ‘Red’ Hope of the Communist Democrat Party to a millennial meme joke punchline to absolute political poison for any candidate she touches. Tuesday’s special elections tell the tale: Four Ocasio-Cortez endorsements and three losses at the ballot box, with one still pending. Her victory column is more bare than a grocery store shelf in Venezuela. Or a doghouse.
In a broader sense, Tuesday’s elections mitigated the establishment mantra of a coming Midterm blue wave with Republicans winning every race on the map of special elections, albeit in close fashion that mainstream media outlets were quick to denote as clear sign that the Trump brand is fading.
Ocasio-Cortez had spent weeks stumping fervently for Muslim Abdul El-Sayed for governor of Michigan, Muslim Fayrouz Saad in Michigan’s 11th Congressional District, Uber-socialist, Cori Bush in Missouri’s 1st District, and is backing Congressional candidate Kaniela Ing in Hawaii in a race that hits the polls Saturday.
