‘This is a Sham:’ Senator Lindsey Graham Gives Fiery Voice to Kavanaugh Injustice
The little RINO that roared: Lindsey Graham tears a rhinoceros-sized hole in the politically motivated public lynching and defamation of Brett Kavanaugh, gaining new fans among conservatives, Trump supporters and populists long suspicious or even downright loathesome of Graham’s status as an establishment poseur.
South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham may have just rewritten his political legacy in five minutes or less. In a fiery pushback against the Democrat lynchmob seething for Brett Kavanaugh’s head on a platter, Graham gave long suppressed voice to the outrage and disgust felt by millions of Republicans, Democrats and other defenders of fair process. Graham called 11th hour sexual assault allegations against Kavanaugh and Democrat concealment circus, “A complete sham.” Graham said he’s hopeful that the American people can see through the nakedly political motivations of Democrat lawmakers, operatives, attorneys and strategists in assembling an uncorroborated portraiture of Brett Kavanaugh as a sexual predator, binge drinker and alleged rapist.
Graham’s inspired and passionate defense of Kavanaugh and excoriation of his Democrat committee colleagues is easily the proudest moment in a career that has too often found Lindsey on the wrong side of history, marching dutifully to John McCain’s drummer, hiding behind Mitch McConnell’s nose hairs or seeming to strike a comfortably moderate tone that left others even in the milquetoast establishment GOP to do the vigorous defending of conservative principle against Democrat attack.
On social media, Lindsey Graham’s robust broadside against an attempted political assassination of the Kavanaugh nomination drew an immediate ovation of both surprise and admiration from political quarters long dubious of the Senator’s limp wristed ways. Whether he knows it or not, Graham’s political shift in the weeks since the passing of fellow moderate John McCain is earning due notice and perhaps new defenders among fans of President Donald Trump, who appear willing to view Graham in a new light.
At long last. The littlest RINO has roared.
